Introduction
Welcome to the first episode of Sibling Rx! We're Dr. Radi and Dr. Yas, siblings who have been wanting to start this podcast for a while. With years of combined experience in healthcare and practice, we're constantly fielding questions about health, wellness, and lifestyle. We decided to bring all that knowledge together on one platform where we can discuss trending topics, share insights, and help people live healthier lives.
Why We Started This Podcast
Both of us have accumulated years of practice and have seen countless different scenarios in the health world. We get inundated with questions all the time, and we thought it would be valuable to bounce ideas off each other and discuss what's happening right now in health and wellness.
Our main motivation is to address current topics and trending issues in lifestyle and health. While there's plenty of good information out there, there's also a lot of misinformation. Our goal is simple: help people understand what they can do to live as healthy as possible.
The Reality of Health: Finding Balance
Not everyone can do everything when it comes to health optimization. Some people take it to an extreme, while others don't do anything at all and wonder why they're constantly ill. We want to help people find that happy medium.
We're not just teaching about health and wellness—we're focusing on longevity. There's a critical difference between lifespan and healthspan. It's one thing to live long, but do you want to spend the last 20 years of your life fighting disease? We want to help people live long AND healthy.
What We'll Cover
Home Health & Wellness
One topic that gets Dr. Yas particularly fired up is making your home healthier. This includes:
• Nutrition strategies • Safer cleaning products • Supplement guidance • Toxins to avoid • Making your environment less inflammatory and toxic
As Americans living in our current environment, there's so much we can do to eliminate unnecessary health risks and reduce inflammation in our daily lives.
Hormone Health & Menopause
For women ages 45-55 going through menopause, there are so many questions: Why am I gaining weight? Why am I tired all the time? Why can't I remember anything?
Dr. Yas uses various techniques daily to manage menopause symptoms, including:
• LED light therapy in the morning • Infrared sauna sessions • Specialized workout techniques that have evolved significantly over the past two years due to hormone fluctuations
Unfortunately, many women work out intensely every day but see no results because something is off. Traditional medical providers, while well-intentioned, are often limited in what they know about these issues. There's been significant misinformation given to us in the '90s and early 2000s that we're only now starting to correct.
Men's Health & Testosterone
For men our age, testosterone is a huge topic. Many guys are at the gym every day, working hard but not getting results. Low testosterone affects more than just physical performance.
As we always say: you don't know how bad you were feeling until you start to feel better. Then you realize just how much you were struggling.
Mental Health & Stress Management
Mental health is crucial for everyone. We'll discuss:
• Practical strategies to improve mental health • Work-life balance • Natural stress management techniques
The Vagus Nerve Connection
The vagus nerve stimulates your parasympathetic nervous system—the "rest and digest" function. Many people are stuck in sympathetic overdrive, with their fight-or-flight response constantly activated.
There are natural ways to stimulate your vagus nerve and turn off that stress response:
• Breathing exercises • Essential oil inhalation techniques (though be careful about sourcing quality oils) • Various relaxation protocols
Anything you can do naturally should be tried first before resorting to pharmaceutical interventions.
Hot Topics & Trending Issues
We want to address what's currently trending in health and wellness. Social media is full of information—some good, some not so good. We'll help you sort through it and connect with providers who can give accurate information, not just "Dr. Google" advice.
Peptides & GLP-1s
Peptides are a massive topic right now. Some people think they're an end-all solution—that they can take a weight loss peptide without doing anything else and stay on it forever. That's not how it works.
You need to do the work to make peptides most effective:
• Lift weights • Eat a whole food diet • Consume adequate protein • Walk and move regularly
For women going through menopause, microdosing GLP-1s can help manage symptoms, prevent muscle loss, improve cognition, reduce brain fog, and provide cardioprotective benefits. However, we don't yet know the long-term effects. What if in 10-15 years we discover unforeseen consequences?
PRP & Regenerative Medicine
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy has come a long way. We remember when Kobe Bryant went to Italy for this "unconventional" treatment. Now it's mainstream for treating:
• Arthritis • Partially torn rotator cuffs • Meniscus tears • Various joint issues
We've performed countless PRP procedures over the years with amazing results.
Stem Cell IV Therapy
This is trending now, partly due to Joe Rogan's podcast coverage. It's effective for decreasing general systemic inflammation, making it beneficial for autoimmune diseases like lupus or rheumatoid arthritis. However, it won't help localized joint issues—for those, you need direct injection into the affected area.
Our Background & Experience
With over 24-25 years of patient care experience, we've owned and operated multiple BackFit Health and Spine locations. As an integrated practice, we've seen patients with:
• Back pain • Hormone issues • Dehydration • Work and sporting injuries • Everything from elderly patients to newborns
We've treated professional and college athletes, caught aneurysms and tumors on x-rays during routine visits, and witnessed the evolution of countless treatment modalities.
The Immigrant Experience
We also want to discuss growing up as immigrants in the U.S.—a particularly relevant topic right now. We'll share our journey, what it took to start and run a business, and the challenges and triumphs along the way.
What's Next
We plan to post every couple of weeks to start. We want to hear from you! Let us know what topics you'd like us to cover. With our years of experience, there's probably not much we haven't encountered.
Where to Find Us: • Instagram Reels • YouTube • Other social platforms
Please follow us, subscribe, and tell us what you want to learn about. As we get more comfortable with this format, the conversations will become even more natural. And yes, we might argue about things we disagree on—which is a lot!
We're limited to 30-minute episodes (legally we can only be around each other for 30-minute increments), so we'll keep things concise and valuable.
Thanks for tuning in to our first episode of Sibling Rx. We're excited to have you on this journey with us!
